Princess Nyanfore Boryonoh was born in Grandcess. She lived in Ghana for

a while and died in Monrovia, Liberia. She married CHARLES NAH WOLO in

Grandcess. She born 16 children, but most died young except Jestina,

Joanna, and Benjamin. Wolo was born and died in Grandcess. Boryonoh was considered a tomboy as a girl. She wrestled and played with boys and

often defeated them. Nah Wolo, on the other hand, was quiet but was

determined to marry Boryonoh. Wolo was an orphan as a child. His parents

died when he was a child.

successful businessman and owned large real estate. He became a

superintendent of Grandcess.

13. DOE4 NIMLEY (DAGBAYONOH3, TEAH JLAY2 JAPPAH, TEAH1) was born in 1898 in Grandcess, Liberia. According to data, he may have come to the

The United States in 1916 as a teenager at the age of 18 or 19. He married

Christina Eldridge, who was born on March 18, 1903, in New Jersey. The

1930 U.S. census listed his occupation as a laborer and Christina's as a

maid. Doe was 24 and Christina was 20 years old when they married. It

was said that Christina’s parents did not at first approve of the

marriage. But Doe and Christina secretly got married, however.


The couple lived in an apartment building in Manhattan with four children; Ruth (6), James (4), Emogine (2) and Joseph (1) at the time of 1930

census. Doe and Christina later born Tula and Thomas. Thomas was the

youngest. He born Thomas Nimley, Jr., who is now residing in Atlanta,

Georgia, US. Ruth Nimley born Patricia, Standley, and Sis-sis. Tula born Paul. Emogine born Gwendolyn. Gwen married Kenneth McMillian, a poet, and born Demor and Naima. She later married Kirk Bomer. Gwen’s last child is Thomas. Demon died many years ago. Naima and Thomas have children. James born James Nimley, Jr. Thomas born Tom, Jr., and Joseph had a daughter, name unknown.

 

Ruth, Doe Nimley’s oldest child, described her father in an

interview as a huge tall man who walked on the bent, head down. He was

strong, always working. He worked on the subway construction in New

York. Sometimes he worked as a bouncer at a nightclub. He was firmed,

straight, and a disciplinarian, but a lovely and caring father. “He

talked a lot about Africa, particularly Liberia”, Ruth added.

  

Doe Nimley died in New York. His wife Christina died in March 1980 in New York.

JAMES5 NYANFORE (KIAH4, DAGBAYONOH3, TEAH JLAY2 JAPPAH, TEAH1) was born in Grandcess in 1917 and died in 1960 in Cape Palmas, Maryland County, Liberia. James was the last of his parents. He married FRANCES TEAH BLEH in Monrovia, Liberia. She was born on May 5, 1905, in Butaw, Sinoe County, Liberia. She died on January 10, 1974, in Monrovia, Liberia. James Nyanfore later married Juah Kpan. He graduated from Cuttington College in Liberia. He was the first of the grandchildren of the king to graduate from college. Nyanfore followed his father’s footsteps and

became a Methodist pastor.

   

Notes for FRANCES TEAH BLEH AND THE JAMES NYANFORE’S CHILDREN:

 

Teah Bleh was the first wife of James Nyanfore, Sr. They born

Dagbayonoh and James Nyanfore, Jr. James Nyanfore Sr. and Juah Kpan born Kronsiahyoh, Nimley, Yonohnenodah (Marylue), Mlah (Martha), and

Comfort. Boryonoh (Benedett) and Gbeh (Elizabeth) have separate mothers.

Gbeh was born in Monrovia. She was named after her father’s mother

whose Kru name was Gbeh and English name was Martha. Gbeh died on March 6, 2015, in Monrovia.

Ben was the second Weah. He was named after his brother Weah, who

died very young. Ben was a gbawelleh, meaning the last child of his

mother. A gbawelleh is traditionally considered the mother's favorite

child. Ben received special attention from his family. In addition to

getting his mother's care, his sister also nursed him. The sister had

given birth to a child at the time of Ben's birth.

 

Ben came to Monrovia, Liberia as a young man and graduated from St.

Patrick High School. He later attended the University of Liberia. He

worked in the Liberian government and with the Mano River Union, a

regional trade and development agency. He met his wife, Lucille

Johnson, while he was attending St. Patrick and she was a student at the

St. Theresa Convent. As said earlier, they married in 1957.
